Vena Kostroun is Vice President of Development at Ascend Analytics. He has seven years experience in developing high-end analytics and software tools for energy trading and risk management. Most recently, Mr. Kostroun has led the Ascend analytic consulting engagements at PG&E, and First Energy. He has previously worked as Senior Consultant at Nexant, Inc. where he has led software development of PRYM for asset valuation and physical risk management of generating assets. Prior to Nexant, he served as technical lead and manager of the AcuPower analytics team at e-Acumen, Inc. At e-Acumen, he oversaw the development and release of a range of forward market data analytics, load, and price forecasting products that were adopted within one year by 20 of the top 50 US energy companies. In addition to developing forecast analytics, Mr. Kostroun also has experience in energy risk management and asset valuation and has developed Monte-Carlo simulators and tools for developing parameter estimates from historical price data. Mr. Kostroun is Ph.D. ABD in physics from Berkeley and holds a BS in physics from Cornell University with Cum Laude distinction.
